Biography
John is a regular writer & correspondent on the Emmy award winning The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. His one hour Comedy Central Special, John Oliver: Terrifying Times just premiered and is currently airing at select times. In addition, John has a breakout role in the feature film The Love Guru which opens Nationwide June 20, 2008. The film stars Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake. In 2007 Oliver was invited to perform at the Aspen Comedy Festival, where he won the Breakout Award as the act who most impressed the judging panel.
Since 2001 John has stared in his own sell-out shows at the Edinburgh festival as well as performing Edinburgh and London runs as the host of the satirical standup show Political Animal with Andy Zaltzman, Political Animal was successfully transferred to BBC Radio 4, and is due to record a second series this year.
John has additionally written and stared in three series’ of The Department (BBC Radio 4) alongside Chris Addison and Andy Zaltzman. Further credits include Mock the Week (BBC Radio 2), Bremner, Bird & Fortune (Channel 4), The Last Word (More 4); and as an actor Green Wing (Channel 4), Chambers (BBC 1), People Like Us (BBC 1) and the Ardal O’Hanlon sitcom My Hero (BBC 1).
